When you finish this guide, your buyer has the case in hand — as a document, a private link, or both — and you're ready for the conversation.
Everything happens in the case's Deliver step. Deliver unlocks once the case is calculated and Val Review's red flags are handled. If something still blocks it, Deliver says why and offers "Return to Val Review" or "Return to Calculate".
Two views#
Deliver has two views, switched at the top:
- Buyer recap — the headline, executive summary and saved model, plus Exports & sharing.
- Seller readiness — your meeting prep, the companion email, and Share activity.
Executive summary#
The summary leads the PDF and the share page, so write it before you export. If it's empty, click "Generate summary". To change it, click "Edit / refresh": you can edit the text yourself, or click "Generate a fresh draft".
AI buttons show their cost when you hover over them.
Exports#
Open Exports & sharing. Three formats:
- PDF — an executive-style summary. The leave-behind.
- PPTX — editable slides, for when you're presenting.
- XLSX — the drivers and assumptions as a workbook with live spreadsheet formulas. Your buyer's finance team can change an assumption and watch the model recalculate.
Every paid plan includes all three. Exporting never uses a business case or an AI credit.
If a subscription payment has failed, PPTX, XLSX, and Share link show "Update billing to enable" until billing is fixed. PDF keeps working. A workspace without a paid plan sees "Upgrade plan to enable".
Under Alternative formats you can also copy the case to your clipboard to paste into another app.
Share a private link#
Click "Share link". In Share this business case you can:
- Enter a Recipient email, an optional name and message, and click "Send invitation". Serre emails them a private link. It can land in spam, so let them know it's coming.
- Click "Copy link" to send the link from your own inbox instead.
Both open the same read-only page. Links expire after 90 days.
What your buyer sees#
The recipient doesn't need a Serre account. The first time they open the link, they enter their name and work email, then click "View the business case". If you sent an invitation, they click "Continue as [their name]" instead.
They see the executive summary, the value drivers and the model behind the numbers, and can click "Download PDF". The page always shows the case's latest calculated numbers. Edits appear after you click "Update the case" on the Calculate step. If the numbers change, refresh the executive summary so your buyer sees it again.
Your buyer can also leave feedback on a figure: a question ("Ask") or a different number ("Propose change").
Track activity and reply#
Open Share activity in Seller readiness. You'll see who has opened the link and every question or proposed change.
- Answer a question with "Reply".
- For a proposed change, click "Accept" or "Decline". When the buyer gave a number for a specific input, accepting writes it into the case. Click "Update the case" on the Calculate step to put it in the results.
To shut the link off, click "Revoke link", then "Confirm". It stops working right away.
Prepare for the meeting#
In Seller readiness:
- Before the meeting — a talk track from your top drivers, the questions they'll ask, and objections to pre-empt. Click "Download guide" to take it with you.
- Companion email — choose the Outreach context, click "Draft email", review and edit it, then click "Use reviewed email". Click "Copy saved email" when you're ready to send.
Exports & sharing also lists Account plan, marked "Coming soon".
If exports are locked for review#
Some workspaces require a review before anything goes to a buyer. If so, exports and sharing stay locked until an admin or owner completes the review in Settings → Case standards → Manage reviews. Hover a locked export to see "Complete the case first".
