An account is a company you sell to: a prospect or an existing customer. Get the profile right and every business case for that account starts from solid ground. This takes about two minutes with the website analyzer.
1. Start with their website#
- Open Accounts in the sidebar, click "+ New account", and choose "Create new".
- On the "Start with their website" screen, paste the account's website and click "Analyze website" (hover it to see the cost). Serre analyzes the company and fills in a first pass for you to review. Prefer typing? Click "Skip and fill it manually".
- The analysis pre-fills the profile: name, industry, employee and revenue ranges, public or private status (with ticker if public), strategic priorities, and likely pain points.
Two things to watch as the results land:
- Industry mapping. If Serre couldn't match the detected industry to a sector, you'll see a hint asking you to pick one. Choose the closest sector.
- Duplicates. If this company already exists in your workspace, a warning appears. Click "Use existing" to start from that account instead of creating a twin, or "Create new anyway" if it really is a different company.
2. Review the account details#
On the New account screen, the left side holds the details. Required fields are marked *.
- Company details — name, website, industry, employees, and annual revenue.
- Relationship — Account type (customer or prospect) and Target account.
- Company type — public or private, with a ticker symbol if public.
- Strategic priorities — what this account is trying to improve, protect, or grow. The more honest this field is, the sharper everything downstream gets.
- Buyer context — Likely pain points, one per line. These become starting context for your business cases.
- Company tag — optionally tag which of your companies sells to this account.
The right side previews the priorities, pain points, and how complete the profile is.
3. Save it#
Click "Add account →". Serre adds the account and takes you to Accounts with the new row highlighted.
To edit it later, click the account's name, or click its row and then "Open account". The account page saves as you type. The footer shows "Saving…", "All changes saved", or "Up to date", with a "Save" button if you want to be sure.
Next step#
The "+ New business case" button at the top of the account page starts a case for this account, and the Business cases panel lists every existing one. Each case keeps its own buyer brief; once a case has one, click "Open the brief in the case →" to see it. See Build a business case.
