Cookies and Tracking

Effective: 2026-09-22

Visitor identification, site measurement, and product analytics have different purposes. This page explains what the marketing-site choice controls and what it does not.

Cookies are small records stored by your browser. Local storage keeps information between visits or tabs, while scripts, pixels, and similar technologies can transmit information when a page or feature is used. Some technical information is collected through requests and logs without a cookie. The purpose and information involved matter, not just the technology's name.

First-party storage is set for the site you visit; third-party services can use their own technologies. Session storage lasts for a browser session, while persistent storage remains until it expires or is removed. The sections below distinguish necessary preferences, site measurement, optional visitor identification, and product tools.

Visitor identification is optional. Use to allow or decline it without losing access to this site. An old analytics consent does not enable this purpose.

If allowed, we and our providers collect browsing activity, pages viewed, IP address, and browser/device details using cookies and similar technologies. We combine this with third-party business-contact data to identify visitors so we can follow up about our services. It is not simply anonymous traffic measurement.

Provider-specific notices and opt-out options are listed in our visitor-identification privacy resources. These third-party technologies can use their own identifiers and retention periods; Serre's preference-storage durations below do not control provider retention.

Serre stores your choice in a first-party cookie named serre_visitor_consent_v2: permission for up to 180 days, and refusal for up to 400 days. It contains “granted” or “denied,” not your name or email. A refusal is kept longer to avoid asking again too soon. You can reopen Privacy choices to change it yourself at any time.

We also use a local-storage message named serre:visitor-consent containing the choice and change time to synchronize open tabs. It is overwritten when the choice changes, otherwise remains until browser storage is cleared, and is not sent to Serre as a consent log. This message does not itself grant permission; the preference cookie controls the stored choice.

The preference applies to this browser on this site. You may need to choose again after it expires, after clearing browser storage, or on another browser/device. If your browser prevents us from saving permission, visitor identification stays off.

We treat Global Privacy Control and browser Do Not Track signals as a refusal of visitor identification, overriding a saved permission. Where storage is available, we save that refusal so turning the signal off does not restore an earlier permission. These signals do not disable necessary storage or, through this control, every product analytics tool.

Declining prevents the visitor tag from loading on future page views in this browser. Withdrawing after it has loaded reloads the page to end that page's active tracking code. Open tabs recheck the shared choice when notified or brought back into use.

Withdrawal cannot recall information already sent, remove every third-party cookie, delete an existing contact profile, or unsubscribe an email address. Browser settings can remove stored cookies and site data.

To request deletion or stop use of an existing matched profile, email privacy@serre.app or use the direct provider options in our visitor-identification privacy resources. Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email to stop those communications.

We measure website traffic separately from visitor identification, using request-derived information for aggregated statistics rather than a persistent cross-site advertising identifier. Provider details are in our site-measurement privacy resources. The visitor-identification choice is not an all-analytics opt-out.

Necessary storage supports preferences, security, and service operation. The authenticated product separately uses sign-in/session storage, identified product analytics and session replay, and support tools described in the Privacy Policy. This marketing-site control does not claim to control those product tools.

If you open scheduling or other connected services, their own technologies and privacy notices may apply. Contact privacy@serre.app with questions about any tracking practice.
